Merzouga Desert Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Pick-up service from the airport

Our 6-day tour from Marrakech takes you to the pretty Merzouga desert. We will meet you at the airport on the first day and take you to your accommodation. If you arrive early, we can take you to some exciting places within Marrakech, like Jamaa el-Fna Square. The square becomes very busy and cultural in the evening. It’s an excellent place to experience Marrakech’s unique charm. We will bring you back to your accommodation at night.

On the second day of our 6-day desert tour from Marrakech to Merzouga, we will explore the most important sites in the Red City. After breakfast, a local guide will come to pick you up and take you around the old city. We’ll show you two beautiful palaces, Bahia and El Badi, which are great examples of Moroccan-style architecture. We’ll also take you to see some special Tombs made by the Saadian people who used to rule Marrakech. Then, we’ll visit the Koutoubia mosque, which has one of the biggest towers in Morocco. In the afternoon, we’ll take you to the lovely garden of Majorelle, where people go to relax. Majorelle Garden was created by a French artist who wanted to live and work in Morocco. Finally, in the evening, you’ll have free time to wander around the lovely Jamaa El Fna square.

We are on day three of our 6-day trip from Marrakech to Merzouga desert. Our first stop is Boumalne Dades, which is a beautiful place in the Atlas mountains. We will start our day by driving through the High Atlas mountains, on a long and winding road. The people who live there are called the Berbers, the indigenous people of North Africa. Their main income is from herding animals. Since they are well known for making Argan oil, we will take you to see how it’s made.

After that, we will continue driving along the road until we reach the top of the mountain. We will make a stop at 2260m above sea level. Next, we will drive to the famous fortress of Ait Benhaddou. To get there, we will walk through a river and see impressive buildings made of clay. Ait Benhaddou is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Afterward, we will go to the city of Ouarzazate. It’s an important city in the southeast with an airport and a big solar energy station. This city is also famous for being a great place to make movies. After that, we will go to Boumalne Dades to spend the night.

After breakfast, we continue our 6-day tour from Marrakech to the Merzouga desert. We will visit the stunning Todra Gorges. With canyons over 300 meters high and a flowing river, you will have some time to go hiking. Then, we will travel through Berber villages, Tinegher, and Tinjedad to the golden dunes of the Sahara desert. You will ride on camels to capture photos and take in the beauty of the desert. When we arrive at the desert camp, you will explore the area, watch the sunset, and try sandboarding. After dinner, we will gather around the campfire to listen to enchanting Berber music while admiring the starry sky. It will be a memorable evening in the desert.

This is the fifth day of our trip from Marrakech to the Merzouga desert tour. Today, we’ll explore the desert and its surroundings. You can wake up early to see the beautiful sunrise. We’ll take a car to see more places. First, we’ll visit the Berber Nomads. They live in tents and rely on the desert’s resources to survive. They are very friendly. Next, we’ll go to a kohl mine and see a beautiful view of the desert. Then, we’ll visit the village of Khamlia, where the Gnawa people live. They come from different African countries and have made Morocco their home. You’ll learn about their culture and music. Lastly, we’ll go to the Oases of Hassi Labied and see the green plants in the sand.

We will have a big breakfast at our desert camp and then ride camels back to Merzouga. We will leave early at around 8:00 AM. To get back to Marrakech, we will go through Alnif with a stop in Nkob for lunch. After that, we will go straight to Marrakech and drive through the Ait-Saouen pass. At the end of the trip, we will make sure that you get dropped off in Marrakech, which is the end of our 6-day desert tour from Marrakech to Merzouga.
