Overview
A Sahara desert tour is the highlight of most trips to Morocco. From Marrakech or Fes, you travel overland through mountains, gorges and valleys to Merzouga, beside the towering dunes of Erg Chebbi.
The core of the experience is a late-afternoon camel trek into the dunes, a night in a traditional or luxury desert camp, and sunrise over the sand. We offer 2, 3 and 4-day options, all private and customizable.

Itinerary
Day 1
Marrakech → Dades Valley
Cross the Atlas, visit Ait Ben Haddou and reach the Dades Valley.
Day 2
Dades → Merzouga
Via the Todra Gorge to Merzouga, then camel trek to your desert camp for the night.
Day 3
Merzouga → Marrakech
Sunrise over the dunes, then the scenic return journey (or continue to Fes).

Merzouga or Zagora for the Sahara?
Merzouga has the classic tall dunes of Erg Chebbi and is worth the extra driving. Zagora is closer to Marrakech but far less dramatic.
How long do you need for a Sahara tour?
A 3-day / 2-night tour to Merzouga is the most comfortable option from Marrakech. Two days is possible from Fes.
